Saturday morning rides
Format: Changes from weekend to weekend depending on upcoming races and time of year.
In spring and summer, we do intervals, attack and chase, hill workouts, etc.
In fall, we transition to the off season: some pacelines, some sprints, some hills (but nothing structured) as opportunities arise with the terrain.
In winter, the Saturday ride becomes longer, with some sections of “fun effort” mixed in: we continue to do some hills and sprints and fun things to keep a bit of sharpness, but it’s mostly steady riding.
Start time: 8:00 a.m. (Moves to 9:00 a.m. in Winter).
Sunday morning rides
Format: 2½ to 3 hours saddle time.
In winter, Sunday becomes “fixed-gear day.” Bring out your fixed-gear bike to work on leg speed and sport-specific strength training. Freewheels, of course, are welcome on the fixed-gear ride, but are encouraged to do the ride in a gear that closely matches that of the fixed-gears. Also, if you are on a freewheel, please relinquish pacemaking to someone on a fixed-gear, and be aware that it is more difficult for fixed-gear riders to continually respond to speed changes — specifically, try not to coast!
Start time: 8:00 a.m. (Moves to 9:00 a.m. in Winter).
